Djibouti (Saylac.com)-An Institute to discover the medicinal plants in Djibouti Today, the Council of Ministers discussed an important project. This last has as an aim the Medicinal creation of the Research institute of Djibouti within the Center of Scientific studies of Djibouti. This new institution has the role of carrying out studies of clinical research on the medicinal plants in Djibouti, to identify the plants which have a therapeutic value in order to develop drugs.

It is envisaged the installation of 03 modern laboratories to the centre the institute knowledge a laboratory of medicinal plant, chemistry, and finally the last dedicated to biochemistry. This Institute will get busy to isolate and identify varieties of plants to discover those which have an antiviral potential or antibacterial according to the selected species. The adoption of the bill lies within the scope of the reinforcement of the national capacities as regards knowing scientific and technical

“There are many hundreds of medicinal plants in Djibouti that can be grown in high-temperate climates and there are probably a great deal more with properties as yet undiscovered” said the Institutions.  Some of famous plants Somali/Djibouti people use for local treatment yet to clinically  discover are  Calaydhiyi,Malmal,Shinxaf,Xabakad,Qarari,Gagabood,Mayeer,Samafa
