Djibouti(Saylac.com)-In a statement released Tuesday, the special representative of UN Secretary General for Somalia, Ahmedou Ould-Abdaollah has condemned the latest wave of violence that has rocked the capital Mogadishu and has denounced an attempt to destabilize the government.

Rebel attacks in Mogadishu have killed hundreds of people in recent days and forced thousands more to flee the capital.

These attacks occur after unidentified gunmen shot dead a member of parliament and tried to assassinate a member of the government in April and that a bomb planted on the roadside injured the Minister of Interior and wounded one of his assistants Mogadishu at the end of March. In his statement, Mr. Ahmedou Ould-Abdallah called for a cease-fire. “There is now a legitimate and internationally recognized in Mogadishu should be supported,” he said. “Instead, the irresponsible elements supported by foreigners attacked Mogadishu in an attempt to seize power by force,” he added.

Noting that no clan has declared responsible for this “attempt to destabilize the country,” Mr. Ould-Abdallah said that the people of Somalia “showed clearly that he was tired of the conflict.”

The armed groups have launched attacks should be held responsible for the deadly consequences, “said Ould-Abdallah. “They intend to continue the violence and lawlessness of the past two decades and should be rejected by the Somali people and the international community,” he added.
